Submission guidelines

We’re always looking for aspiring lawyers who want to share their voice. If you’d like to contribute, here’s what you need to know:

  1. Your article should be law-related, but we welcome a wide range of themes—from access and diversity in the legal profession to practical career tips, personal journeys, or commentary on current issues in law.

  1. We only accept original work that hasn’t been published elsewhere (including on personal blogs or LinkedIn). Please don’t submit old essays or dissertations written in academic style. Plagiarism or fully AI-generated content without significant human input will not be accepted.

  1. Write for a broad audience. Our readers range from sixth formers to law grads and early-career professionals. Keep your writing conversational and accessible—avoid heavy legal jargon where possible. Think “explainer” or “insider perspective,” not a textbook.

  1. Where relevant, back up your points with links to trusted sources. Hyperlinking works best. Real-life experiences, case studies, or practical examples are especially powerful—feel free to draw from your own journey.

  1. We recommend articles between 600–1,500 words. Use subheadings, bullet points, and short paragraphs to make your piece easy to read.

  1. We may also add a headline, summary and images if needed. By submitting, you give Equal Opportunity the right to publish and lightly edit your work.

If you're not sure where to start, you can pitch an idea first and we’ll help you refine it. If you’d like topic suggestions or brainstorming support, just drop us a line—we’re happy to help.
